“Our expert guide will focus on the events of D-Day and the 77 days of conflict in Normandy.”

On day two we have a full day to explore the British and Canadian Sectors of the Allied Landings visiting Merville Battery, Pegasus Bridge that was attacked by the British Airborne in the early hours of the 6th June 1944. We also make a visit to Ranville cemetery where over 2000 men lie at rest. We continue along the Beaches of Sword, Juno and Gold, calling at Arromanches where you will view the Mulberry Harbour system that still lies in the Bay. We finish at the German Gun Battery at Longues Sur Mer. On day three we travel to the nearby Normandy town of Bayeux, the first major town in Europe to be recaptured by the Allied Forces. You will be able to visit the Battle of Normandy Museum and the nearby British Cemetery. There will be time to visit the unique Bayeux Tapestry depicting the 1066 Battle of Hastings. After lunch we return to Caen to visit the CaenMemorial. This evening we have an optional excursion to the pretty fishing port of Honfleur where you can dine in one of the many restaurants. On the fourth day we visit Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery at Coleville Sur Mer and then continue to Pointe du Hoc. After lunch we proceed to the Beach of Utah where you can visit the Museum containing landing crafts and weapons from the conflict. We also stop at St Mere Eglise and the Museum of the American Airborne where one of the gliders that was used in the D-Day invasion lays at rest. Our final visit is to the German Cemetery at Le Cambe, the resting place of 20,000 soldiers.

YOUR HOTEL

You will stay for four nights at a comfortable hotel, such as, or similar to, the Kyriad Caen Memorial Hotel. All hotels used have well-furnished en-suite bedrooms as well as a comfortable bar and dining room where breakfast will be included throughout your stay.
