Join with our expert guide as we experience some of the chilling realities of the Second World War. You will visit the fortress of Breendonk, one of the best-conserved concentration camps in Europe. We also go to the Atlantic Wall museum to see some of Hitler's formidable line of defences round the north French coast - the "Atlantic Wall". On day three we journey to La Coupole, the home of the gigantic underground bunker designed by the Nazis, to store, prepare and launch the secret V2 rockets and Mimyeques where we find the V3 Super Gun Fortress, a network of tunnels built into the hillside by slave labour. On day four, after a leisurely start we depart late morning for an included excursion following the Retreat of the British Army from the Lille area back to Dunkirk. We visit the the La Bassee Canal, the massacre site at La Paradise involving the 2nd Norfolks regiment, Hazerbrook where we see the less famous V1 (Buzz Bomb) launch area. We continue to Mont Casel and the Esquelbecq massacre site. We finally arrive at Dunkirk beaches where the defence and evacuation of the Allied forces took place. You will also visit the Military cemetery before returning to your hotel. Finally, we offer an optional visit to Bruges, with its stunning bridges, canals and preserved medieval buildings
YOUR HOTEL
You will stay for four nights at a comfortable hotel, such as, or similar to, the Westminster Group of hotels. All hotels used have well furnished en-suite bedrooms as well as a comfortable bar and a dining room where continental breakfast and dinner will be included throughout your stay.

Day 1 - BELGIUM. Journey to your hotel in Ostend.
Day 2 - BREENDONK CONCENTRATION CAMP / ATLANTIC WALL MUSEUM. Included full day excursion.
Day 3 - LA COUPOLE & MIMOYEQUES. Included full day excursion.
Day 4 - DUNKIRK. At leisure before late morning excursion.
Day 5 - OSTEND/BRUGES. Morning at leisure in Ostend. Optional morning excursion. Early afternoon we commence our journey home.
